According to Cleantechnica.com, last month in France, Tesla Model 3 was the best-selling EV and the 9th best selling car. EV registrations end at 23,138 units with 13,453 BEVs occupying 12% share of the overall auto market or a 60% YoY increase and 9,685 PHEVs occupying 8% share of the auto market or a 7% YoY increase.
Insideevs.com reports that in February 2022, plug-in car sales increased by 33%. The top three EV models for the month are Tesla Model 3 (2,717), Dacia Spring (1,348), and Renault ZOE (1,088, plus 38 commercial versions). The top three PHEV models for the month are Peugeot 3008 PHEV (1,377), Peugeot 308 PHEV (608), and Citroen C5 AC PHEV (567).
Charging Station News
According to the European Environmental Agency, by November 2021, the number of charging stations has grown by around 37% with France among those lead the growth of EV charging stations.
Compared to other European countries, France is a major electric vehicle charging station market player and is included in Reportlinker.com’s “Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Global Market Report 2022” together with Germany, the only other European countries considered in the report, and many other countries.
EV Subsidy Policy
Local governments take action to lower urban CO2 emissions, which drives demand for EVs. In April 2020, there was a government subsidy for fuel vehicles’ conversion to EV through retrofit (€5000 per vehicle). The recent homologation law allows 5-year-old ICE vehicles’ retrofit, granting firms such as Transition-One to accelerate the conversion of these vehicles to EV. The Models Transition-One converts includes Fiat 500, Renault Twingo 2, Mini Cooper, Renault Kangoo, Renault Clio 3, and Polo 4. There’s a maximum speed for the converted vehicles which is limited to 100 km/h.
